Louise Bibby, GRx Rising-Star 2020
“On reflection, over all stages of life I’ve had an affinity towards positions of leadership. From schooldays amongst peer groups, the captain of university teams, coach and club president roles, to state council positions as a professional – I am motivated by roles of responsibility and the experiences
We are thrilled to announce Dr Louise Bibby, Osteopath, as one of this year’s GRx Rising-Stars of 2020. Already well respected in Osteopathy, Louise is ready to make an impact on the wider allied health community. A deserving winner!
Louise has achieved so much in her short career already. She attributes this to being resilient, having a strong work ethic, and collaborating with others to build trusted and supportive networks. Along with running a rural Victorian osteopathic practice with an outreach program to isolated rural communities, she is also a contracted player of the Western Bulldogs VLFW, the director of the first sports platform for osteopaths in Australia, and a representative on the Victorian State Council for Sports Medicine Australia. On top of that, Louise is a passionate mentor to osteopathic students, and actively contributes to social media platforms.
Her interests are particularly in leadership and sports professional development. She was inspired by the creation of the AFL Women’s competition, and the “trailblazer” title that became associated with the women and girls that stood up to lead in this space, despite public adversity.
As the first ‘Advanced Sports Osteopath’ in Australia, she associates with the “trailblazer” title and passionately promotes equality for women in sport. Her hope is to build on this vision and help more women to find a place within traditional allied health sporting environments and medical teams.
As she moves forward with her dreams, desires, and expectations for the allied health profession, we cannot wait to see what comes next for this inspiring young woman.
“I will be honour to have the opportunity to collaborate, connect, learn from, and support in return, an academy of like-minded, dedicated, and driven allied health professionals – a collection of leaders who strive to create change, equality and opportunity in allied health for the future.”
